Post 4: Climate Change

Hello everyone.

It's very important to talk about climate change. I think we're in the final stretch to avoid a huge catastrophe were we are the first guilty.
Scientists has been investigating and talking about all the damage the Earth it's been through during many years. And just now when the problem grew enough we are listening to them. That makes me very anxious, but at least the people want to work for it and try to fix as much as they can.
Personally I think there're many options to help the cause of climate change.
First of all we have to change our way of living. We have to be aware about all around us. Animals, waste, nature, etc. We aren't the most important thing in the world. There so much more that it's been destroyed everyday because of us. So many endangered species victims of all of that.
There're still some options to fight against that problem.
Reducing our waste and trying not to buy plastic stuff that we just use once in life. Not wasting food and buying what we're really going to use, or growing our own vegetables. Changing the way of moving and reduce the use of cars as much as possible.

Post 3 : Free- Themed post : Pets

Hi again everyone. today it's time to talk about pets.

Personally I love having pets. I have a lovely dog called Laly. She was a street dog and suddenly came at home 11 year ago. I remember having other pets before. I had rabbits and hamster but it was really boring playing with them. I thought they didn't understand me. And were awake at night so, they just existed there.
But Laly it's completely different. I think she's a super intelligent dog. Even though she's getting older, she knows a lot of tricks and she loves playing. She feels when things are good or not too good at home. She's a very important part in my family and we all love her.
The only problem with her is to interact with other dogs or animals in general. It's really strange because she has just one dog-friend and no more. She hates dogs and some people say that it's because she wants to protect her space and her family. But I think she had some kind of trauma while she was a street dog. It will always be a mystery.

Post #2 : The best holiday

One of my best holidays was few years ago in Brazil.
I went to visit some friends in Sao Paulo. I stayed there one week sightseeing the city, going to museums, restaurants and parks.
My idea was to spent 2 weeks there with them. But suddenly we decided to go to Rio de Janeiro and it was the best idea so far!!
It was January and all the carnival atmosphere was in the air. Schools of samba were practicing and it was party on the streets every night. Live music, beautiful dances and costumes. I'd never been in a place like this.
The weather was so different. It was 30ºC but at the same time it was raining.
People was so friendly and I met a lot of friends of my friends.
I would really like to go back again but this time in carnival days. If I had such a good time there just while schools of samba where practicing. I can't imagine how fun would be during the official event.

Post 1 : A country I'd like to visit

Hello everyone!
Today I'm gonna talk about somewhere I'll like to go.

It's hard to find someone who doesn't like travelling and discovering new places. I'm not the exception.
Few years ago I had the chance of travelling a lot. I met many different people from all around the world and their cultures.
The one who amazed me the most was Asian culture. Since then I would like to go to Japan or South Korea.
I believe that people from there are very respectful and loyal. At least people I met were very pure.
Also, all the technology they have it's incredible. The fastest train in the world it is in Japan!!
If I have the opportunity of going there I would like to visit my friends and stay with their families and friends. Or maybe stay longer. Study the language or something else. I think this is how I could really get involved in their culture.

Last post

Hello again guys! 

Today it's moment to say goodbye. My experience blogging it's finishing and I really enjoy it!

I've never had a blog and I think it was nice to have one. It helped me a lot to practice writing and I like discovering some of my mates interests and thoughts.

I think it is a good way to learn grammar from ours mistakes. But it could be better if we had a grammar rules class before starting blogging. Probably we would know what we shouldn't have done.

In my opinion another good way of learning grammar could be a correction between classmates. Sometimes correcting my own mistakes helps me to avoid making them again. It could work for someone else too. 

Anyway. Blogging it's a good way of practice writing and reading as well.

I hope you have enjoyed my posts and you could know something about me and my way of thinking.

Nature

Hi everyone!
Don't you think nature it's beautiful?
Well, for me it is. Everytime I think about nature. I imagine peace and calm. And that's what I love the most.
I'm not really a city person. Although I live in Santiago. I live very far from the center and the city is always a mystery for me hahaha. I think is a very big one.
I feel more comfortable in other kind of places.
Since I was a kid I've always have holidays in the countryside. Surrounded by animals and natural landscapes. I have a lot of memories about this place. And I remember a particular one that now it's funny but in the moment it wasn't.
One day many years ago I was with my brothers and my cousin harvesting blackberries. When we heard a strange sound...  It was a bull and it was running toward us!!!  I'd never been as afraid as I was in that moment. We run so fast that all the blackberries flew out. I don't know yet how we went through the fence and we saved from that bull. But luckily we did.
Those stories could hardly happen in the city and I really enjoy them!!

Hello guys!

I can't believe how fast this semester it's going. Just few more weeks for holidays!!!

I'm coursing third semester and it's been quite hard for me. I've learnt a lot of different topics about many differents areas in agriculture. 

I've discovered how diverse can be this career and how fun it's learning about everything. 

I've been learning about soil, insect and microorganisms, ecology and internal plant's processes. 

All this subject are very interesting. 

I'm not sure if I have a favorite one, but I really enjoy doing practical activities. 

The hardest one for me it's edaphology and at the same time it's one of my favorites. I like going to classes and studying it, I also like field working. It's just the subject's difficulty.

Anyway, this semester I've learnt a lot, in many different ways and this makes me happy.

It's been the semester of teamwork. Luckily I have good partners and we work fine together. 

During the last year that didn't happen and I realized how important it's having a good team to rely on. 

Despite all fun uni can be, I'm really tired and I'm looking forward to start holidays.

Don't you think everyday we become more and more dependent on internet?

In my case I use it everyday for different reasons and it's particularly useful in the academic world.

My favorite website is Youtube. There I can find everything I need.

When I'm studying there're many topics hard to understand for me. I always find teachers who explain perfectly well what was impossible for me to get before. Or animated videos which teach in a different and funny way.

Also if there a theme which interests me.  Youtube has interviews, documentaries and tutorials about it.

Few days ago I was searching about Agroecology. Without much effort I could find all about it, from where it began to how to implement it at home. 

I watched few videos about experts talking about it, explaining benefits and more. Of course I could read in a book or in a magazine about the same topic, but with videos it's easier and more understandable.

It's the perfect website to spend hours learning about everything.  

 

Permaculture

Hi everyone today I'm gonna talk about Permaculture.

First of all permaculture comes from the words "permanent and agriculture".

Which it's a systems that takes the knowledge of the nature to provides permanently food to people.

I think this is a good way to provide our own food. Also it helps to solve some problems we have in the world today.

People are trying everyday to make changes and salve the world.
Implementing permaculture in our lives, we can start a big change.

I think using this system would bring many benefits.
Production of waste decrease, we would learn how to take care of our way of feeding, how to take care of water, it's also a benefit for our pockets.

Everybody should know what permaculture is and implementing it at home with our families. There's where changes began and of course, our planet will thanks as forever.

My favorite picture

Hi again everyone!
Today I'm gonna talk about a special picture for me.

During the summer of 2018 I did a trip with my family from Coyhaique to Punta Arenas. It took us 2 weeks. We took many buses ships. We
met loads of different people including family I had never met before.

This pic was taken by some American tourists who were taking a rest like us while we were doing the hiking of our lives. We walked 23 kilometers  from Candelario Mancilla in the Aysen Region. Going through the Chilean-Argentinian border to the Lago del Desierto in Argentina. We started at 7 am and finished at 5pm.

You can imagine how intense it was.

It was one the most beautiful trip I've ever done. With amazing landscape that I've ever seen in my life and probably the company made it much better.

Hello everyone!

Who doesn't like watching a movie or following a serie?

In my case I'm not really a movie person, I usually fall asleep and I got lost of the story in movies. I guess 2 hours being quite it's too much hahaha.

That's why I prefer watching series, I like when a long story it's cutted in chapters and keeps few seasons.

I  like understanding the life of each character and getting involved in it.

I remember a good serie I watched last summer called “Grand Hotel” it’s a Spanish serie, sets in the beginning of 1900s in a palatial hotel owned by a rich family. There live the owners, the workers and occasionally some guests.

It’s a thriller serie about lies, crime and murders which tells how the rich family does everything to keep the good image of its hotel to society. Even though everything inside it’s dark.

I enjoyed it a lot, if you have the opportunity to watch it just do it!!

Technology in our lives

If I have to choose one electronic device indispensable in my life I would say my cellphone.

I use it for many things, it has a good size and I can take it with me easily.
Even though  I usually forget it everywhere or I forget to charge it. It's the piece of technology that I use and I like the most.

Nowadays everyone has a cellphone, and the communication it's easier because of it, also has differents functions as taking picture or watching movies, actually there're many apps for everything.

If I think in my life without my cellphone it would be very difficult because I was born with technology, If I need to go to somewhere I haven't been before, there is the cellphone with its maps.

If I don't know the song it's playing, there're some applications that recognize the song.

With technology everything it's easy and fast but this can be a problem, as some people say "we live in the era of smart phones and stupid people".

It wasn't a easy decision

I always had trouble about taking decisons and this time wasn't the exception so I entered to bachillerato in Universidad de Chile but after one semester I quited, I was pretty convenced about studying nursing so I prepared PSU.

Surprisingly, the night after I took PSU my parents told me about the opportunity to travel and study english in New Zealand, I didn't need to think much about it I said yes!!

Three month later I was on my way to this beautiful country. How I knew I was going to travel I didn't apply for any career, thanks god I didn't do it, otherwise today I wouldn't be here and I could be a nursing student.

In New Zealand I met many different people, all of them from different part of the world, many cultures and life styles. There was how I discovered agricultural engineering while traveling and talking to people. Fortunately one of my best friends was an agriculturist from Brazil.

I'm really happy with my decision and everyday I'm more interested about learning it.

About myself

To start talking about myself first of all my name is Fernanda Hernández. I was born in Santiago the Chile 21 years ago. I live in San Bernardo with my family, my parents, my two little brothers and my pet, a super smart dog called Laly.

One of my best part of the day it's to arrive at home and share time with my family, my brothers are very funny and everyday have some story to tell.

I finished my secondary school in a small school in Calera de Tango in 2015.

After school It was very hard for me to decide a career to study, so I entered to Bachillerato in Universidad de Chile, to discover want I wanted to study, but after finished it, I quited.

One year later I went to New Zealand to study english, I lived with a beautiful Kiwi family, they make me part of its world. After six months full of experiences and selfdiscovering I came back to Santiago Chile.

Actually I'm coursing my second year in the career of Agricultural Engineering in Universidad de Chile in Santiago.
